Is there no time now?
If both parties agree, Tinder users can now also start video chats. The feature was activated worldwide after a test phase.
Tinder’s video chat feature is now available worldwide, an opportune time as restaurants and cafes are currently disappearing as meeting places in many places. No one is guaranteed to get unwanted video calls, Tinder says.
Before the video chat feature is activated, both chat partners must agree. Only when both sides have done so can we begin. Before that, it remains hidden whether the other has ticked the box or not.
No violation of the rules in the video call
Tinder advises that the feature can be deactivated at any time. Furthermore, users must accept certain rules: no nudity, no sexual content, no insult, no violence or other illegal activities and no involvement of minors under 18.
After the call, Tinder asks for anonymous feedback. In the worst case, users can even be reported for inappropriate behavior.
Tinder has been testing the feature in select countries since July. In a survey of test subjects in the United States, half said they had a video chat with their Tinder match.
Younger users, in particular, said they use the feature to decide whether or not they would like to meet the other person.
