The creators of Canaan have launched what they claim to be the first bitcoin television set in the world, "AvalonMiner Inside". According to the South China Morning Post, the world's second largest mining hardware manufacturer is diversifying its product line.
Specifications
The TV can process 2.8 trillion hashes per second at 100 W / T, compared to their more powerful mining rig that processes 11 trillion hashes per second. This power (from 16nm A3210 ASIC chips) seems pretty decent, considering that you can not watch TV on a typical mining plant.
Canaan says that TV is powered by artificial intelligence (because it has motivation) and has voice control. Apparently it will also calculate the profitability of bitcoin mining in real time, which would be fine except …
The Rub
"The digital currency earned can be used to purchase entertainment content or physical gifts through the Canaan platform. " [19659005] Otherwise, it looks like you're digging for reward points. We can only hope that this is a wrong report of the facts, because it seems a bit like a dealbreaker. Unless you're the kind of person who takes useless flights just to collect miles? However …
AvalonMiner Inside
& # 39; AvalonMiner Inside & # 39; it sounds like a feature; a sticker that is located outside the TV to let you know that it will use the spare processing power for the extraction. It actually sounds like a potentially brilliant feature for your TV.
The TV of "AvalonMiner Inside" looks like the last season's mining chip bolted to an unmarked telly in an attempt to convince people that it's a good idea. The ASIC chip will not help the TV function better and the TV processor will not add anything to the power of extraction.
If all you want is a TV, then you'll have a 43 "model with 4K resolution, but if bitcoin mining is your motivation, then you'll probably be interested in a decent brand TV.
The Floodgates Open
Apparently this TV is just beginning.Afterwards, Canaan plans to expand its market base by enabling more appliances for the mining industry, if all this means slapping an old ASIC chip in a three-rate washing machine and hope that the user does not worry about electricity bills …
