93 drugs marketed in France would be dangerous, according to the magazine Prescgere

Not all drugs are created equal. At least these are the conclusions of the scientific journal To prescribe establishing its ninth annual list of drugs not recommended. A total of 112 drugs are on this blacklist. And 93 are marketed in France.

These can be older drugs, the use of which is overtaken by other newer drugs and the balance of which “benefits-risks” is more favorable. But they can also be recent drugs whose efficacy has not been sufficiently demonstrated with regard to the side effects they cause in some patients.

Not necessarily future Mediators (…) if the health actors react in time
– “Prescrivi” review

Among the new bans is Propecia, a widely used drug against hair loss in men. The Medicines Agency (ANSM) had already warned of the psychiatric (anxiety, depression) and sexual (ejaculation disorders, decreased libido) risks that this anti-baldness treatment could cause. Another drug not recommended is Nootropyl, a treatment used against cognitive disorders related to aging.

Finally, a dozen drugs of the gliflozin family, against diabetes, are also among the drugs to be excluded. The drugs on this list are “causes of death, hospitalization or serious or very troublesome adverse effects, largely avoidable”, according to the review To prescribe. These are however “not necessarily a future Mediator, at the center of scandals and lawsuits (…) Especially if all health professionals react in time “.
