Former Ticino skier Doris De Agostini died at the age of 62 after a short and serious illness. Swiss-Ski confirmed the corresponding media news from Ticino.

The Airolo downhill specialist catapulted into the heart of Swiss skiing in 1976 at the age of 17, when she sensationally won the Downhill World Cup in Bad Gastein. He competed in the World Cup until 1983 and won a total of eight races.

De Agostini participated twice in the Innsbruck Olympics in 1976 and in Lake Placid in 1980 and won the bronze medal in downhill at the 1978 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Sportswoman of the year

In 1983, at the age of just 25, she stepped down at the pinnacle – as a downhill World Cup winner. In the last season De Agostini won the slopes of Val d’Isère, Schruns and Les Diablerets. In 1983 she was also voted Swiss Sportswoman of the Year.
