New data suggest that cryptographic markets may not be dominated by men as once perceived. Etoro Trading Platform and Patent Discussion Forum Mumsnet conducted a survey of over 1,000 female participants asking for their approach to investment.
The results show that 47% of respondents were moderate or significantly informed about investment and 55% wanted to take control of their investment decisions.
The main motivation was to generate long-term wealth, with 71% declaring that they wanted to save money for their children's future.
Perhaps the most surprising thing was the extent to which women were informed about cryptocurrencies. About 80% knew the term cryptocurrency and 42% were already investing in crypto or considering it in the future.
The demographic data on Etoro's investments show that 90% of the women registered on the platform are invested in cryptographic activities. It also reveals that the main cryptographic assets chosen by women are: Ripple (56%), Bitcoin (15%), Ethereum (10%), Litecoin (6%), Stellar (3%).
Are women more likely to be HODLer?
One thing that the data suggest is that women, who tend to put more effort into planning for their long-term future in consideration of childcare, may be more likely to keep their crypto-investments. , as opposed to daily exchanges for short-term gains. It would be fascinating to conduct a study between 5 and 10 years to determine what percentage of female investors held their cryptographic assets for five years or more, compared to what percentage of male investors frequently traded their assets for short-term gains. The same questions could be asked for different races, ethnic groups or socio-economic classes. The answers to these questions can give us an in-depth view of the different types of risky behavior in the main demographic groups of retail investors.
