396 deaths in 24 hours in hospital, numbers still falling

While the number of people admitted to hospital for Covid-19 cases has dropped below 29,000 in France, outbreak indicators continue to decline.

In the past 24 hours, 396 people have died in hospital from Covid-19, according to the latest Public Health France report released on Friday evening. On Thursday, this figure rose to 340 and Wednesday to 381. In total, 51,914 people have died in France since the start of the pandemic.

28,620 people are currently hospitalized for Covid-19 cases, or 690 fewer in 24 hours, of which 3,871 in intensive care. Additionally, 1,471 patients were hospitalized and 206 in ICU in the past 24 hours.

12,459 new cases of Covid-19 were identified in 24 hours, up from 13,563 on Thursday. The test positivity rate is still down and shows 11.7, up from 12.2% on Thursday and 13% on Wednesday.
