Dengue fever in Réunion: the number of cases is stable but the virus continues to circulate
From 23 to 29 November 14 cases of dengue were reported to the ARS. The number of cases is stabilizing again this week. However, the situation signals a continuation of the circulation of the virus on the island with a dispersion of cases on the territory and almost half of the municipalities concerned.
With the approach of southern summer and weather conditions more favorable to mosquito development, a new wave of dengue fever is to be feared in the coming months.
The authorities recommend that the population be extremely vigilant and encourage the implementation of essential preventive measures to prevent the spread of dengue fever: protect yourself and your loved ones from mosquito bites, eliminate anything that may contain water around their home and consult seek medical attention immediately if symptoms occur.

22 deaths (including 11 directly related to dengue)
In week 48, isolated cases were reported in 11 municipalities:
- Saint-Leu
- The port
- Saint Pierre
- Buffer
- The oars
- Three basins
- Possession
- St. Paul
- St Denis
- St. Benedict
- Sainte-Rose
No grouping of cases was identified. In order to contain the spread of the dengue virus on the island, the control teams of the ARS vector are continuing the mosquito control interventions day and night, applying barrier measures against Covid-19.

On 25 November at midnight the art competition on the theme: “Dengue fever and its vector mosquito disease (the tiger mosquito)” ended.
Almost 150 works were received with excellent proposals and ideas on the subject of mosquito control. The jury will meet to deliberate and select the winners. A big thank you to all participants and see you next week for the results.
Recommendations to combat dengue
Knowing and applying, on a personal and collective basis, the preventive measures to combat dengue remains by far the most effective way to avoid contracting the disease and transmit it to those around you:

Consult a doctor in case of symptoms: fever, headache, muscle / joint pain, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, etc.
