According to the latest data, 1,154 patients are being treated for kovid in Srpska hospitals and there are 59 people with respirators whose treatment outcome is extremely uncertain.

427 patients have been admitted to the RS University Clinical Center, while 131 of them are fighting a battle with a severe clinical picture and as many as 55 are in danger of life. For days we have been recording double-digit numbers of deaths per kovid, while the percentage of new infected, in relation to the total number of tested, is about 40% and more on a daily basis.
Possibility of reinfection
Epidemiologists warn that the situation in Srpska is risky and that all the numbers quoted are still high. They say that citizens must be extremely careful in the next period and adhere to all preventive measures, in order to slow down the growth of the newly infected, hospitalized and with a serious clinical picture and of the deceased.
They warn that even those who have already passed the crown must be careful, because they can become infected again and go through a worse clinical picture than the first time.
Jela Acimovic, an epidemiologist at the RS Institute of Public Health, points out that the frequency of reinfection is not high, but that reinfection is certainly possible.
– And we have other similar cases. This has been demonstrated through both repeated symptoms and through repeated positive PCR tests. In some situations, the second infection also had more severe symptoms than the first – Acimovic told Srpskainfo.
Protocols
According to her, there was a case in RS that the infection was confirmed again just one month after the first infection.
– This is why we recommend everyone who has passed kovid to continue to comply with absolutely all measures to prevent infection. Based on previous research, protocols have been adopted in many countries so that when someone passes the covid, the next three months are considered protected. After three months, we can no longer consider it protected, and it is still subject to all measures, such as quarantine in case of contact with an infected person – explains Acimovic.
If in the first three months it happens that the person who passed kovid was in close contact with an infected person, he should not go to quarantine.
– However, if it’s been more than three months since he won kovid, he has to. So, they should also be careful, wear masks, reduce contact – says Acimovic.
Immunity
Antonija Verhaz, head of the Infectious Disease Clinic at the RS University Clinical Center, recently pointed out to Srpskainfo that most coronaviruses cause short-term immunity.
– Then the antibody titer decreases and one becomes prone to get an infection again. We are already testing people for antibodies and have noticed that there are people who have been infected with the corona virus and have no protective antibodies. Some have, but we don’t know how long it will last and how long it will protect a person. We assume that infection is possible again in someone who has not created protective antibodies – Dr. Verhaz pointed out.
An additional problem is that patients sometimes do not refer to the doctor in time, so due to the deterioration of their health, they are hospitalized at an advanced stage of the disease.
Therefore, experts appeal to those who feel the condition worsening, in terms of very high and prolonged temperature, breathing difficulties or severe fatigue, to report immediately for examination. They explain that although there is still no cure for this disease, there are therapies that make it easier for the body to deal with covid, that is, reduce the possibility of developing a severe clinical picture and death.
