‘Goodbye’ after 30 years always at the highest levels

The legacy of the most feared wrestler ever is over. After 30 years at the highest level at World Wrestling Entertainment, the pinnacle of American sports entertainment, The Undertaker announced his farewell to the competition and was 55-year-old Mark William Calaway again.

The famed gravedigger (or undead for those who prefer), was one of the people responsible for WWE’s extraordinary media coverage around the world, along with names like Hulk Hogan or Ultimate Warrior, and said goodbye to the rings in a very emotional way.

“The time has come to let the Undertaker rest in peace,” he revealed on the official Twitter of the American organization. The reactions weren’t long-awaited and millions of fans and comrades gathered at this special moment.

Plus, names like John Cena, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made sure to give him strong words of praise as well. This ‘goodbye’ has long been talked about in the WWE backstage, and at the end of the last WrestleMania the fighter admitted that the fight against AJ Styles would be a good way to end his career.

Undertaker’s legacy is immense, most notably The Streak, the 21-fight winning streak in WWE Wrestlemania. Starting today, the iconic “Tombstone Piledriver” will no longer be seen.
