Tisca Chopra will make her directorial debut with a short film, Rubaru, under the Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films banner. The story is about Radha Malhotra, the once celebrated A-list actor who also plays Chopra, struggling to stay in the spotlight as he prepares to return with a theatrical production. The film is also the protagonist Made in heaven actor Arjun Mathur.

Speaking of his personal life, the actor talked about how his mental health was affected when his career hit a rut. He said, “I was feeling sad. A sense of sadness and misfortune hovered in my head and it was about my career that was going nowhere. As if you train your body, I decided to train my mind.”

The first-time director, who also co-wrote Rubaru, also spoke with The Quint about the film and what inspired it.
