In the 2020 US election, Joe Biden is the winner, but more results will follow. In some states, the count is still ongoing. When will the results of the last elections and the final result arrive? Here you can find information for German time.

When is the final result of
American elections
2020 solved? In the presidential election, eligible voters in
United States of America
decided who should rule the country for the next four years. Saturday evening
Joe Biden
the magic limit of 270 voters and has since been the winner – albeit
Donald Trump
wants to take legal action against the election result.

The question remains how clearly Biden will decide the choice. When will the latest results arrive?

Final 2020 US Election Results: When Will Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina Result?

2020 had to wait much longer for a decision than previous elections. The first major results like those from Vermont or Indiana came at 1 am German time Tuesday through Wednesday. However, the race between Trump and Biden was so close that in the end it fell to a few states.

It wasn’t until Saturday night, November 7, German time, that Biden’s victory in Pennsylvania made it clear that the Democrat had won the election. Soon after, he secured electoral leadership in Nevada. Four states still count: Arizona and Georgia seem more victories for Biden, who would win the elections even more clearly. In Alaska and North Carolina, however, Trump is ahead. It will likely take until next week to determine the results in all states.

This is the percentage of votes counted on Sunday morning:

  • Alaska: 56 percent
  • Arizona: 97 percent
  • Georgia: 98 percent
  • North Carolina: 98 percent

But even if all the votes have been counted, the US elections are probably not over yet: Trump is taking legal action against postal votes and calling for a recount in some states – he sees himself fooled by his election victory.

Incidentally, in the past, who will eventually become president of the United States, had in clear cases decided much earlier around 5 am, German time. Since most of the late counted states, including greater California, have traditionally fallen to Democrats, stations often dared to make fairly definitive predictions. Barack Obama’s 2012 election was already certain at 5.15am, Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton four years ago shortly after around 8.30am.

As with the general election, election night projections are based on post-election polls. If these “exit polls” reflect a clear trend in a state’s election outcome, it will be published as a prognosis by the US media. Narrow results are considered “too close to calling” (for example, “no clear majority”) until a sufficient number of electoral districts have been counted.

Time for Election Results: When were polling stations closed in the United States?

The opening hours of polling stations in the US presidential election vary from state to state. Many states open so-called “polling stations” for each election in the morning between 6 and 7 am (local time). Polling stations usually close between 7pm and 9pm.

However, as the United States covers six time zones, polling stations closing in 2020 has been a long way off in their respective states. We give you an exemplary overview of the opening and closing times of polling stations according to US and German time:

Time zone State (example) Electoral seats to conclude German time
Eastern (MEZ -6) Florida 8:00 pm 2 o’clock
Central (MEZ -7) Wisconsin 8:00 pm 3 o’clock
Mountain (MEZ -8) Arizona 19 o’clock 3 o’clock
Pacific (MEZ -9) California 8:00 pm 5 o’clock
Alaska (MEZ -10) Alaska 21 clock 7 o’clock
Hawai’i /Aleutian Islands (MEZ -11) Hawaii 18:00 5 o’clock

What will the Presidential Elections 2020 counted?

Counting of the 2020 U.S. presidential election began after polling stations in their respective states closed. Many votes were cast before election day: so-called “early voting” is now possible in 36 states and Washington DC without explanation.

The votes cast previously will be counted together with the ballot papers presented on election day. In most constituencies, digital voting machines or special paper ballots are used. The latter are also scanned for counting and digitization purposes.
