4 December (UPI) – Mariah Carey celebrates Christmas with famous friends, Netflix explores the life and times of the late Selena Quintanilla, and MTV honors the greatest television and movie moments of all time this weekend.

Also, Gary Oldman tries to write the script Citizen Kane in Mank, Jillian Bell finds her way as a fairy godmother in Godmother is Shameless begins its last season.

Here’s a rundown of some of the movies, TV shows, and music specials that will be released this weekend.

Movie

“Mank” – Netflix

Gary Oldman plays Citizen Kane screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz, aka Mank, in this black and white drama from director David Fincher, which arrives on Netflix on Friday. Mank is struggling to write the classic film. Also in the cast are Tom Banks, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Arliss Howard and Tom Pelphrey.

‘Godmothered’ – Disney +

Jillian Bell is a fairy godmother in training who comes to help single mother Isla Fisher get inside Godmother, which arrives on Disney + on Friday. Bell does his best to bring some magic and joy to Fisher’s life as he experiences the real world for the first time.

‘Selena: The Series’ – Netflix

Christian Serratos plays the late Tejano music star Selena Quintanilla in Selena: the series, which will premiere Friday on Netflix. The two-part miniseries will chronicle Selena’s career and become famous. Also in the cast are Madison Taylor Baez, Ricardo Chavira, Noemi Gonzalez, Gabriel Chavarria and Seidy Lopez.

Season 4 of ‘Big Mouth’ – Netflix

Animated adult comedy Big mouth returns for its fourth season on Netflix on Friday. The central cast of the young teen show will go to summer camp and compete for a new character, Tito the Anxiety Mosquito. Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Jessi Klein, Maya Rudolph and others provide the voices.

Season 3 of ‘The Great British Baking Show: Holidays’ – Netflix

The contestants from past seasons and the cast of Derry Girls will prepare Christmas treats for judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith in the third season of The Great British Baking Show’s Holiday spin-off series, arriving Friday on Netflix.

“WOWIE Awards 2020” – YouTube

World of Wonder will honor the best in art, activism and entertainment with the virtual 2020 WOWIE Awards, which air Friday at 3pm EST on the WOWPresents YouTube channel. Heidi N Closet and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo are hosting Drag Race winners Jaida Essence Hall, Shea Couleé, Priyanka and Envy Peru perform.

“Stillwater”: Apple TV +

Apple TV + presents a new children’s program based on the Scholastic book series Zen shorts by Jon J Muth titled Still water, which will premiere Friday on Apple TV +. Stillwater is a wise panda who helps brothers Karl, Abby and Michael gain a deeper understanding of their feelings and how to cope with their daily challenges.

“The Hardy Boys” – Hulu

Brothers Frank (Rohan Campbell) and Joe Hardy (Alexander Eillot) move to a new town to uncover the truth behind a recent tragedy in The Hardy Boys, which debuts its first season on Friday on Hulu. Also in the cast are Jennifer Hsiung, Keana Lyn, Riley O’Donnell, Bea Santos and Adam Swain.

“MTV Movie & TV Awards: Greatest of All Time” – MTV

MTV will celebrate the biggest television and film moments of all time from the 1980s to today with this special, which airs Sundays at 8pm EST. Kevin Bacon, Drew Barrymore, Kristen Bell, Selma Blair, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gal Gadot, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kevin Hart, Adam Sandler, Jason Segel and William Zabka will also be honored, with Vanessa Hudgens as the host.

Special episode “Euphoria” – HBO

Zendaya returns for a special episode of Euphoria, which airs Sunday at 9 p.m. EST on HBO and is now streaming on HBOMax. Zendaya’s Rue will meet Colman Domingo’s Ali in a diner.

Season 11 of ‘Shameless’ – Showtime

“Your Honor” – Showtime

Bryan Cranston plays a New Orleans judge who faces his son, played by Hunter Doohan, involved in a hit and run incident in Your honor, which arrives at Showtime on Sunday at 10pm EST. Michael Stuhlbarg, Hope Davis, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Tony Curran and Lilli Kay also star in this 10-episode legal thriller.

“Mariah Carey Christmas Special” – Apple TV +

Mariah Carey will be joined by Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Tiffany Haddish, Billy Eichner, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Misty Copeland, Mykal-Michelle Harris and Carey’s 9-year-olds from Morocco and Monroe in this festive Apple TV + Friday special. The special will include musical performances, dances and animated sequences.

Yusuf / Cat Stevens “Catsong Festival” – YouTube

Dave Matthews, Haim and other artists will perform during the virtual Catsong Festival, which will be streamed Saturday at 3pm EST on Yusuf / Cat Stevens’ YouTube page. The event will celebrate the music of Yusuf / Cat Stevens.
