HMD Global launches the Nokia 8 V 5G UW smartphone, the company’s second 5G smartphone. In a major change for HMD Global, this exciting spec phone will be sold through US operator Verizon, becoming the first HMD Global flagship device to be available through a US operator.
Despite the new branding, the Nokia 8 V 5G UW is actually a Verizon-branded version of HMD Global’s first 5G smartphone, the Nokia 8.3 5G, announced in March.
Nokia 8.3 5G was finally launched in the US in September as an unlocked device for the same price of $ 699, although there is one essential difference between it and the new Verizon model: 8.3 only supports 5G sub-6GHz, while 8 UW accepts. also mmWave Networks.
As for the new Nokia 8 V smartphone, it appears to be visually identical to the 8.3. There’s the same 6.81-inch screen (with camera perforation and a bottom edge), but also a quad camera system on the back, with a 64MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide sensor, a 2 MP and a 2 MP depth sensor.
Other specifications of the Nokia 8 V 5G UW smartphone include a Snapdragon 765G processor with a modem with integrated 5th generation mobile technology, a 4500 mAh battery, 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. There’s also a start button with built-in fingerprint sensor, a customizable button for the virtual assistant, USB-C for charging, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The HMD Global smartphone will ship with Android 10 and can be upgraded to Android 11. The missing specs are wireless charging and sealing.
This Nokia 8 V 5G UW phone from HMD Global will be priced at $ 699 and the question is whether it will be able to compete with other major smartphones from more well-known premium brands.
