Venezuela regrets the interventionist attitude of Panama

A.- Chancellor Jorge Arreaza reported from the Twitter social network, that Venezuela overwhelmingly rejected the statement by the Panama Chancellery this Sunday, which seeks to destabilize the legitimate institutions of the country.

The following is the text of the declaration:

The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela was informed of the issue of a statement annouced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama on 12 January 2019, in which, once again, efforts are being made to destabilize the institutions of the Republic Bolivarian of Venezuela and ignore the constitutional order in full force and operation. In this sense, consider the following:

It is regrettable that Panama will once again join the anti-diplomatic absurdities against Venezuela, violating the principles of international law. There is no doubt that the conduct of Panamanian diplomacy is due to pressure from Washington and that at the expense of peace in Venezuela, they intend to offset the costs of breaking relations with Taiwan.

Disappointed by the surprising and unprecedented that just in Panama, the last country on the continent to have suffered a US invasion, which promotes foreign intervention in Venezuela. Ignoring the Venezuelan laws and trying to grant executive powers to the National Assembly, does not look for another goal that will trigger an internal conflict that seeks to justify the long-awaited US intervention in the country.

We suggest that the Panama government address the serious corruption situations involving relatives of the country's vice president or President Varela himself, based on the investigations that emerged after the so-called Panamanian documents were made public. Likewise, we urge you to correct the condition of Panama as a tax haven, which has facilitated money laundering and the construction of money-laundering networks in your country.

The constitutional government of Venezuela will continue to carefully analyze the tempera of governments subject to US interests, while evaluating appropriate and symmetrical decisions in all areas that guarantee the protection of the population, the state and its institutions.
