VeChain distributes the first blockchain for monitoring Japanese tea products to help customers learn about the origins of tea

Tea drinking enthusiasts and enthusiasts are often particularly attentive to the place of origin of their tea, climate and varieties. Unfortunately, the ability to trace the origins of your tea has not been available … until now.

Tea lovers who would like to authenticate the originality of their next cup of tea or trace their products will be able to do so thanks to VeChain. VeChain collaborates with the renowned Fuji MARUMO Tea Garden tea to help with the tea pack monitoring.

He hopes to do it through the IoT and advanced tracking technologies propagated on blockchain. So with this solution, customers can easily confirm the origins of their tea product, simply by pointing their smartphones on the NFC chips integrated in the packages.

The project will be distributed in batches, with the first one covering only a hundred different tea products that will have the VeChain NFC chips that track Fuji tea packets. This first lot consists of testing the hypothesis and seeing if it works.

It is the first phase of a broader agreement to show that the idea and technology work. Once proven, the partnership will involve larger volumes tracked around the world.

How will it work?

Each product will have a unique ID assigned by VeChain. This ID will be attached to the various NFCs. Using these chips, customers can actually authenticate the origins of their tea as they come from Fuji MARUMO Tea Garden.

Not only that, customers will be able to get more details about the product, including the history of the tea garden, which will be reproduced via video, as well as a certificate of verification. This certificate will be made available on the VeChainThor Blockchain.
