US elections: Michigan certifies Joe Biden’s victory – Donald Trump has failed

The election victory of US Democrat Joe Biden in the state of Michigan has been officially confirmed. After days of unrest, an electorate on Monday certified the 78-year-old’s victory over President Donald Trump in the Midwestern state. Trump has been denouncing alleged election fraud in Michigan and other states for weeks.

According to official data from the Board of State Canvassers, which includes two Republicans and two Democrats, Biden’s advantage over Trump in Michigan is 154,000 votes. This means that all 16 major state voters go to the Democrats. For Trump, the elections are virtually impossible to win, despite legal challenges in other states.

For weeks, Trump has made the false claim that his election victory was “stolen”. Sometimes it tries to take legal action against the results in individual states. In Michigan, he pursued another strategy as well: he recently invited the leaders of the state’s Republican majority to the White House in an extraordinary move. The meeting, however, did not go in Trump’s sense: politicians stressed after the meeting that they would “follow the normal procedure” in appointing the electorate.
