Tron (TRX) accused of pumping the price into the turmoil of accelerator competition

[ad_2][ad_1]

Tron's accelerator race ended on January 4 with a $ 1 million cash prize to be won, but now the developers are at first in arms, if the explosion of grievances on the discord's channel is something that is going to to happen.

Tron, a former platform, now ranked ninth in terms of market value, has acquired the innovative BitTorrent peer-to-peer file sharing application in July of last year.

The project is led by Justin Sun and is gaining momentum both in terms of adoption and price.

But everything may not be what seems at first glance to say its many skeptics.

Price pump charges

He is accused of pumping the price of his token – TRX – attracting developers on his platform, especially from Ethereum, under false pretenses with his generous competition prizes in his acceleration program.

The user of Reddit 9hil is one of these critics.

He has drawn attention to the e-mail that has been sent to the participants who change the rules after the closing of the competition:

Due to the unexpectedly high volume of competitive projects, we have made some changes to the structure of the award, one of which is to assign over 100 projects rather than 56 projects. More details will be announced soon. Please stay tuned 🙂

And a poster about discord (phil) that apparently represents a Super Representative (a node on Tron's Proof of Stake consensus system) has complained about cutting the minimum size of the prize from $ 5000 to $ 1,000, questioning whether the prize money would have been completely distributed:

Here is the discord screenshot:

And here is the complete card compiled by 9hil:

  • They changed the prizes after the competition is over

  • They allowed the clones to win but not the original clone on TRX

  • They allowed competitors to win those who did not meet the criteria (being on mainnet)

  • They allowed projects that are not open source to win

  • The Grand Winner is a mysterious project with little information available [STOken Studio – its github code repository has been deleted – https://github.com/chews/stoken]

  • They have not published a public list of winners

  • Some obvious ponzi games have won prizes

I contacted Justin Sun on Twitter (and discord) for a comment.

Within 10 minutes he appeared on the discord channel, promising to issue a statement in an hour.

Here is the screenshot of the discord interaction:

This story unfolds as I write, but to be honest with Justin Sun responds to the developer's complaints.

For example the anthill, which is a clone of Shrimp Farm (described by 9hil as a ponzi game), which in turn is a clone of the original game of Ethereum, is no longer in line for a prize.

Sun explained at 9:48 GMT: "After an internal discussion we decide to cancel the price [prize – gm] by anthill and my apologies to all the developers "

The developers were perplexed about why the high quality bits were not examined.

One of the developers who built a rim remains called instancheque – unlike another game – did not get anything.

Even an app that had been previously praised by Sun -TronGoo – and which currently has the largest transaction volumes, apparently received only first prize.

This is what Sun tweeted on TronGoo on January 9th:

Sun says he's looking into why TronGoo has been overlooked.

Moreover, a number of developers at the beginning state that their contributions had not even been looked at by the Tron team, claiming that they had been eliminated before being seen by the judges.

One of the judges who publishes discord as Vincent – dappreview wrote:

I think they did a screening before sending to the judges. I have not seen all the presented presents

The list we have is less than 40 dapps, I think it's for the big prize📷

No, I do not have the final results

Here are some other context from the chat discord:

Other developers say their pieces have been disqualified for no reason, such as anywhere, called TronJoy.

Not enough staff at work

By way of an explanation for the merger of the accelerator competition, Sun said the company has only one person working there and solving the problem.

He also admitted that he should visit the discord channel instead of just his favorite social channel, Twitter.

Sun is quite busy on Twitter, where he finds himself having fun with Ethereum and co-founder Vitalik Buterin in particular.

On November 9th of last year, Tron broke the record of the daily transactions of Ethereum set in January 2018 (1,367,488 v 1,349,890).

A large part of the total transaction was calculated by betting on TronDice immediately.

It is believed that the public announcement of the winners will take place at the niTROn event to be held next week in San Francisco on 17-18 January.

BitTorrent token doubt

Simon Morris, formerly BitTorrent's Chief Strategy Officer, is denigrating Tron's technology, which is derided by its critics as essentially nothing more than a copy of the Ethereum virtual machine, with dPoS set at the top.

Tron launched a BitTorrent token (BTT) but Morris, in an interview with Breakermag, expressed serious doubts about Tron's ability to provide the required transaction throughput:

"But what is very clear is that they will do it to say they are going in the same direction, come what they can, because that's what Tron does … it's basically a marketing machine on a thin, very thin technology. "

Observers from the encrypted market will have noticed that Tron has outperformed recently.

Between December 13 and January 10, the TRX price rose from $ 0.0133 to $ 0.0327, with a gain of 145%, but has steadily decreased since then to $ 0.0228, according to coinmarketcap.

Judging by Justin Sun's comments on the discord channel, many of the criticisms are being addressed or at least there is some sort of damage limitation operation going on.

Still no statement to developers

However, the promised statement to developers on the discord channel has yet to appear, but we will update this story when it does.

This episode highlights the seemingly amateur nature of leading leadership teams and the lack of consideration for transparency issues by many leading space projects.

Jimmy Song of Blockchain Capital is not very in love with Tron. It expects the price to fall to 0.001 by 1 February and 0.0005 by 31 December.

Sour grapes from competitors?

However, all those critics who happen to support other projects, be it Ethereum or EOS, could simply have an attack of sour grapes.

Tx numbers presumably do not lie, but if they are artificially inflated by throwing money to developers just because that support can later withdraw that support, the adoption could presumably collapse.

Tron's main network was launched in June last year.

He got into trouble for plagiarism last year when it was discovered that his whitepaper includes the source code copied from Filecoin and the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) in his white paper.

Sun also made fun of the cryptosphere with hints of a partnership with the Chinese internet giant Alibaba, which proved to be not the case.

Tron does not seem to be much appreciated even in China, where he is often the much despised target on Weibo. Given its position number 9 of coinmarketcap, it can not even access the latest semi-official Chinese cryptographic rankings elaborated by the Center for the Development of Information and Industry:

Tron launched his virtual machine at the end of August 2018. In a post disagreeing about a hour ago, Sun is looking for time to solve any problems:

luicyjuicy, the developer who posted the rim removed for Tron, may not be around to find out:

"I see many apps from real-world use cases on ethereum and a few on tron." The only backdraw [sic] it is the speed on ethereum but their wil [sic] solve it "
