A state senator from Georgia reported he lied about $ 300,000 worth of cryptocurrency equipment, according to The Guardian of December 27th.

Republican Michael Williams, who originally denounced the alleged theft in May, made a false police report and issued a false statement, as court documents state.

Williams had said that the $ 300,000 servers, which had been used to extract the unnamed cryptocurrencies, had disappeared from his offices, the daily news newspaper published by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on December 20.

Prosecutors are considering the possibility that the theft has never taken place, and last month Williams was indicted by the grand jury on three charges and later handed himself into custody.

A full verdict has yet to emerge, however, with the accused and his attorney awaiting trial prosecutors.

"Right now, our position is that Mr. Williams did not do this," the lawyer, A.J. Richman said on December 26, quoted by another local Gainesville Times agency. Richman added:

"We're still not really informed of their evidence, they did not reveal it, I'm sure they'll do it soon, but at this point, we do not know what they're saying except what the accusation says."

Williams had previously co-sponsored a cryptocurrency payments account for the Georgian Senate, while his campaigns were marked by a pronounced anti-immigration policy that included a "deportation bus" that referred to Mexican immigrants who had obtained a considerable condemnation.
