The venture capital company SINGAPORE Trive Ventures, formerly known as Tri5 Ventures, has unveiled a blockchain accelerator for subsequent start-ups, with the support of a government agency.

Its six-month Tribe Accelerator program will highlight product development and massive blockchain adoption, with decentralized applications or digital back-end solutions leveraging distributed ledger technology, said the investor focused on Southeastern Asia on Tuesday.

Eight start-ups will be selected for the initial cohort, with the incubation program kicked off in the first quarter of 2019. Partners include the Singapore Enterprise Government, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Singapore Venture Hub and Icon Block .

Trive Ventures, which typically invests in seed technology startups in the Series A funding rounds, has previously worked with the Singapore government as a mentor credited to early-stage startups.

Jonathan Lim, director of the startup and global innovation alliance at Enterprise Singapore, said in a statement provided by Trive Ventures that the agency welcomes more advanced technology accelerators.

"Working with the Tribe Accelerator, we hope to create more innovative and disruptive blockchain startups to seize growth opportunities locally and internationally," said Lim.
