Jeff Bezos, the richest man in the world, owner of Amazon.com, has hired more than 400,000 people worldwide this year, equivalent to more than 1,000 people a day, the e-commerce giant confirmed for FOX Business.

In the third quarter of 2020, Amazon had 1.25 million employees globally, a number that does not include the 100,000 seasonal jobs, well above the 647,000 employees worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2019, which means that Amazon has nearly doubled since last year.

No other company in the world has created more jobs in the past decade, based on Fortune 500 data, Amazon said.

Jobs range from entry-level positions in warehouses, distribution centers, and physical stores to more advanced positions in technology development, human resources, finance and marketing.

The tech giant also offers advanced manufacturing capabilities at Amazon Robotics and Project Kuiper units.

All Amazon positions start at a minimum wage of $ 15 per hour, and all full-time employees receive health insurance, a retirement plan, 20-week paid parental leave, and other benefits. The company also launched a subsidized childcare system in May during the pandemic.

In August last year, Amazon announced plans to create six more technology offices out of 16 in North America, adding 3,500 technology jobs in cities that include Detroit, Dallas, San Diego and Phoenix. The company announced its first investments in Missouri, North Dakota and Nebraska this year.
