Intel is expanding its range of Next Unit of Computing (NUC) systems with the latest laptop reference design. Its partners will be able to sell NUC M15s under their own specific brands and configurations.

The laptop kit could offer non-established brands another way to compete with major, well-known brands such as Dell and HP.

Although pricing will depend on Intel’s partners, Intel told The Verge that the M15 is likely to sell for $ 1,000 to $ 1,500, depending on specs.

It should be available early next year. The M15 laptop includes an 11th Generation Intel Core i5-1135G7 or i7-1165G7 processor with integrated Iris Xe graphics and a standard 15.6-inch IPS or 1080p resolution touch screen.

You can opt for 8GB or 16GB of RAM, but you won’t be able to upgrade the amount of RAM later on. Intel says the battery should offer up to 16 hours of use on a single charge.

The M15 integrates two Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 Type-C ports (both can be used for charging), two 10Gbps USB-A ports, an HDMI port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

There is no SD card reader. The M15 laptop with an Intel-created design and a price tag of $ 100-1500 weighs 1.65 kilograms and is 1.5cm thick. The system also includes specs like an LED light bar that lights up when using Windows Alexa – the M15 has four microphones that can detect speech.

The laptop’s camera is compatible with Windows Hello and can use facial recognition for authentication. The NUC range is primarily known for mini-desktop PCs.

However, the M15 isn’t the first laptop design Intel has made under the NUC umbrella and delivered to unreleased brands. In 2019 it launched the MAG-15 gaming laptop.
