Thousands of supporters of US President Donald Trump gathered in the federal capital, Washington DC, to show support for the current White House leader and his baseless allegations of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election, the BBC reports. Donald Trump himself went among his supporters in a secret service car, from where he smiled and greeted them.

Right-wing extremist and anti-government groups such as “Proud Boys”, “Oath Keepers” and QAnon are among those who have taken to the streets in support of the president.

Trump supporters started the march starting at 5pm local time and headed to the area east of the White House. The event was called “Million MAGA March”. At one point, Donald Trump, who had announced he wanted to go among his supporters, was seen in a secret service car in an official column with armed agents.

The event was not without violence: a man who appeared to have stepped out of the march was repeatedly hit by Trump supporters. In the pictures you can see how he was first hit with a hair in one eye, after which another man punches him in the face.
