The government has yet to make a final decision whether to legalize the use of cryptocurrency and digital currency in the country.

The minister of the federal territories, Khalid Abdul Samad, said that the issue is not clear because it is still under investigation.

"People have asked me if these currencies (cryptocurrency and digital currency) are legal or illegal." At the moment, the answer is neither legal nor illegal because the situation is not yet clear.

"Yes, I was involved in the launch of Harapan Coin, but I was not appointed Finance Minister, but I became Minister of the Federal Territories.

"Because the issue is not under my jurisdiction, I can not push too much," he told reporters after he officiated a tea party and a presentation of school aid for 100 orphans and deserving children in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur organized by Pertubuhan Kebajikan Insaniah Srikandi Malaysia today.

Khalid made the comments when he spoke about the success of the co-organizer of the event, Blockchains. My, who managed to introduce new digital technologies.

The minister had previously proposed to Bank Negara and Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad that the cryptocurrency of the Harapan currency was used for government transactions.
