The iPhone 12 photo test was much lower than expected

One of the places Apple has invested in in recent years is in photography. It follows the trend of brands like Huawei and tries to offer their smartphones the best cameras and the best associated features.

If, as a rule, the Pro and Pro Max models have the best cameras, the base models are not under-served. This doesn’t seem to have happened with the iPhone 12, with DxOMark’s latest tests giving this smartphone a low score.

iPhone 12 was the most recent to be tested

Since the latest iPhone 12 models were launched, DxOMark has evaluated these devices. From what Apple presented, many of these proposals were expected, which were below expectations and what its competition offers.

The most recent analysis done by this entity focused on the iPhone 12 and the evaluation of the photographic quality of this smartphone. The news is not the best, with a low score. The good thing here is the quality of the video you produce.

The quality of the photos is not brilliant

After the high scores on the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, but which left them far from the top of the list, there were expectations in the performance of the base model. What DxOMark found is that this model was in the 13th score, at the level of Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro and Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G, devices of 2019.

In photography what stands out is the lack of a better optical zoom and the presence of noise in the image. The bokeh effect in portrait mode is "disappointing" and the lack of a telephoto module prevents sensitive scaling.

DxOMark tests highlight the quality of the video

Where the iPhone 12 works well is in the video. Its result is only 1 point from what the Pro Max model achieved, which reveals its quality. In most of the tests of this component the equipment lived up to expectations.

The result that this model has should be similar to the iPhone 12 mini, since the photo modules are similar. A better result was expected, but it was clear that it is superior to what the 2019 model presented in the same tests.
