Robonomics Network of Airalab, which has raised $ 1 million in investments, aims to create smart cities and solve environmental problems on a global scale.

Russian Airalab scientists and engineers have created a new platform for integrating robots into mass production and everyday life. Robonomics Network, built on Ethereum, allows you to purchase goods and services directly from autonomous robots and robotic factories.

The Robonomics developers define the project as a

"Integration of the Ethereum infrastructure for IT systems" into Smart Cities and Industry 4.0 ".

In short, this is a toolkit for developers, which allows them to organize the cooperation of autonomous robots that fulfill an order received directly from a human user. This could be the provision of food in a smart kitchen with the help of drones or the gathering of information on atmospheric pollution using sensors.

Why Ethereum?

The advantage of Ethereum contracts is the function that allows you to add technical details to financial transactions, as well as the possibility of issuing a single "consumer → robot" transaction, instead of two: "consumer → operator" and "operator → robot".

In other words, the transaction between the customer and the contractor takes place without any intermediary, be it a person or an IoT platform.

How does it work?

In addition to the executor (cyber-physical system, CPS) and the customer, the system includes an observation network and so-called headlights. The function of the headlights is to find the corresponding offer and demand, send a transaction to create a contractual responsibility and then, after the CPS has completed the transaction, place the transaction in the Ethereum blockchain, thus defining the contract. As a result of this finalization, the headlights and the observation network receive their prizes.

Goodness for miners

In June 2018, the alpha version of the Robonomics intelligent contract infrastructure was launched on the Ethereum network. Any ETH holder can test the XRT token emission mechanism, which allows decentralized network operation. An instruction manual for creating a searchlight is available for download on the Robonomics website.

The creators of the project say that the tokens extracted during the test period are not the original XRT tokens. However, a bounty program that allows you to trade XRT alpha with the "original" ones is being prepared.

Together with Microsoft

In addition to services for consumers, the platform is also applicable to solving global problems. In 2017, on the basis of Robonomics and with the technical participation of Microsoft, the first international transaction for the transfer of carbon units took place through the blockchain. According to the Kyoto Protocol, a unit of carbon is the equivalent of one tonne of CO2 emitted by companies in the atmosphere. These units are traded on a stock exchange and their main buyers are energy companies that use fossil fuels.

In addition to the joint case study, in 2017 Airalab and Microsoft started an educational project for training on how to use the Ethereum network.

Other environmental projects

At the end of the summer of 2018, Airalab successfully tested a platform of autonomous sensors collecting data on water pollution in Tolyatti, a Russian city where the development team is located. The information was collected by a self-managed floating drone and recorded in a public blockchain. The research method proposed by Airalab proved to be superior in terms of efficiency compared to those carried out by municipalities that use expensive maintenance vessels.

Also in September 2018, it became known to the public that the administration of Togliatti would use Airalab technology to monitor forest fires and illegal landfills and dig up landfills in city dumps.

investments

In May 2017, Airalab completed the first round of its ICO, with a total investment of 5,000 ETH (~ $ 820,000). In less than three days, 95 different investors showed their confidence in the project, buying 600,000 tokens among themselves.

On the eve of ICO, the Airalab team received $ 220,000 from the Satoshi Fund. Cybernator, the company's pre-seed fund, has acquired 165,000 AIRA tokens for 1,100 ETH.
