HONG KONG, 10 January 2019 / PRNewswire / – The city University of Hong Kong (CityU) has never been afraid of their passion for blockchain technology and its applications. This January, the institution will take another step in that direction, supporting the cause of the adoption of the blockchain through a collaboration with the best industries in the sector, among which includes Talenta, a Singapore blockchain consulting firm.

Coming from an academic background, the president of Talenta, Edward Du, who is a director at the prestigious German center Tsinghua Research Institute, has always dreamed of having the opportunity to share his passion with blockchain technology with other like-minded academics. This collaboration with distinguished professors of CityU is one of his many efforts to make blockchain education more accessible to everyone.

To be hosted in the weekend from 12 to January 13, 2019, the rally will take place in the heart of the university along Tat Chee Avenue a Kowloon, Hong Kong. A broad profile of prominent names is already scheduled to honor the affair, with confirmed speakers including members of the National Academy of Engineering Dr. David Yao from University of Columbia and IBM Fellow Dr. C. Mohan, Co-Founder of Plus Venture Sam Wang, President of Talenta Pte Ltd Edward Du, LD Capital Partner Dr. Waishun Lo, Founder of Mars Finance Feng Wang, President of BitKan Yang Liu, CEO of HashKey Capital Chao Deng, Gate.io APAC President Tina Yuan, Canaan GM Kevin Shao, Huobi first CTO Ying Son, Head of Business Development and Technology at Stellar Michael Ran, President of the IDCM Group Michael Zhao, Johnny Chong from DFRI, Jay Liang from the HK Blockchain Association, Brian Tan from HKU, as well as PwC SM Lucy Gazmarian among other industry leaders. Over 100 professors and experts from the academic field will present their latest progress in the event.

Training for the two-day conference will include a healthy balance between commercial and academic dissection, presenting internal analyzes from both worlds. Respectable industry figures will offer their market insights and the pace of technological advances through keynote speeches, while group discussions will shape the views of honorary mentors and professors from near and far, in particular the professors of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology and do not forget, professors residing at CityU.

Well aware of the unpopular mercenary approaches that have plagued the blockchain market in the last year, the Symposium on Blockchain Technology and Applications (SBTA) is resolved in the injection of a new approach in cultivating the obscure blockchain mavens. The conference will focus strictly on technological, economic, innovation and blockchain applications, avoiding the clear marketing and promotional spots that are often associated with blockchain events.

CityU has shown a lot of love for blockchain technology since the beginning, with a joint research center set up in Chengdu and many others in the pipeline. This symposium aims to serve as a platform for blockchain enthusiasts from both ends of the spectrum to meet and socialize, with the goal of triggering real connections and fruitful conversations for all.
