A document published on November 12 on the official website of the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) invites the country to "accelerate" the development of standards for the blockchain industry.

The text was written by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) Zhou Ping, who is also general secretary of the China Blockchain Technology and Industry Development Forum and director of the Software Engineering and Evaluation Center at China Technology Technology Standardization Research. Institute.

The paper claims that the development of a reference standard for blockchain architecture is of paramount importance for guiding the selection and application of blockchain systems in different national industries.

It is emphasized that the work of standardizing the national blockchain started as early as 2016, with the publication of the White Paper of the Development Forum, which included five categories for blockchain standardization: foundation, processes and methods, interoperability, business and applications and security of information.

After the Forum completed its basic standard reference architecture, in May 2018, it would have completed ten international blockchain standards such as terminology and concepts, reference architecture, classification and ontology, which have now entered development.

While the work of standardizing the blockchain continues to "deepen", the text highlights that many obstacles still hinder its completion, slowing down the development on an industrial scale. Reportedly, these are "misunderstandings" or an "immature and unbalanced" view of the application of technology in various sectors and scenarios and the insufficient cultivation of blockchain talent, which is particularly necessary to train the professionals of standardization.

The author invites the country to accelerate standardization, as potential applications of technology continue to extend beyond the limits of finance to supply chain management, social welfare, culture and entertainment industries and other fields.

The author also recommends that China "seizes the opportunity to play a key role in the international development of blockchain standards", drawing on and reformulating these international standards for the situation in China.

As reported earlier, China has stepped up its efforts to complete a blockchain standardization system "as soon as possible", creating a government committee dedicated to the explicit purpose and, more recently, standards should be published by the end of 2019.
