The Blockchain game is going to get big

Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and partial owner of the the most precious world esports team Cloud 9, believes that the gaming blockchain will be great.

Ohanian shared this revelation in a tweet on Thursday in which he shared a piece of recent thought of Peter Kieltyka, the co-founder of Horizon Blockchain Games.

In article, Kieltyka breaks down the value proposition of bringing blockchain technology to video games. Touch the ideas that concern true digital property, demonstrable fairness, interoperable economy, mass collaboration and "play to make money".

This marks one of the earliest examples of a major sport supporter to identify gaming blockchain as the "next big thing" in the industry. Ohanian previously invested in the A league of Cloud9, a round of financing that also saw the participation of San Francisco midfielder Giants Hunter Pence and quarterback Hall of Fame Joe Montana.

While many in the cryptocurrency industry are optimistic about the potential of blockchain technology to revolutionize the game, many within the esports community are much more skeptical – seeing the movement as nothing but a grab money for the night.

Time will tell if the high goals encountered in many blockchain game groups will be realized, but at least the movement has started a conversation about the nature of game resources and true ownership.
