The Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, held in Beirut, began its fourth session on Sunday at Seaside Arena.

This is the first time that Beirut hosted this summit, in the presence of Qatar Emir Tamim Bin Hamad, Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ben Abdel Aziz and the participation of 20 Arab countries.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun opened the conference, calling on Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan to address the previous session of the summit.

The summit agenda includes 17 procedural and substantive elements concerning development work in Arab countries, the most important of which concerns Arab food security and deals with cooperation between different countries to provide food to imported regions from the outside of the Arab world through internal Arab capacities. There is a clause on the Arab strategy for sustainable energy, and there is a voice on the Arab common market for electricity.
