The Arab League almost confirms the completion of the Great Arab Free Trade Area

The Assistant Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, stressed that there is a strong work at the University to reach the Great Arab Free Trade Area as soon as possible.

In a press conference held at the headquarters of the Arab League, Zaki stated that "there is hard work by the Arab League to complete the Great Arab Free Trade Area".

"The completion of 95% of the detailed rules on the origin of Arab goods and came into force in October 2018 and the completion of the 2.3 list of rules of origin and therefore the completion of the negotiations on the detailed rules of origin ".

He said that "economic and social issues are ignored by the Arab media in covering political issues", emphasizing that these issues benefit the communities and directly contribute to the interest of Arab citizens.

Zaki stressed the importance of the Arab strategy for sustainable energy 2030 ", stressing that it will be presented at the fourth economic and development summit hosted by Lebanon on 19 and 20 January next to be adopted by Arab leaders during their meeting at the summit level.

Zaki stressed that "in 2018 the Arab Convention for the liberalization of trade in services was ratified, explaining that it comes into force when it is ratified by three Arab countries".

The Great Arab Free Trade Area represents an important step in the process of Arab economic development and integration, which can be built and transferred to advanced stages for the creation of the Arab customs union and then of the Arab common market. This region offers ample opportunities for intra-Arab trade and investment in Arab countries.
