A few days ago, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for market oversight in accordance with the requirements of the “Regulations on the Administration of Defective Automotive Recalls” and the “Measures to Implement the Regulations on the Administration of Recalls of Defective Automotive Products”. Starting November 27, 2020, some imported Model X vehicles with a production date between March 16, 2016 and July 31, 2016 will be recalled for a total of 870 vehicles.

For vehicles that fall within the scope of this recall, adhesive glue is used to install the front roof liner and center liner on top of the vehicle, and a primer is required to increase the adhesion between the two. Since the primer on the surface of the roof liner of some vehicles may be insufficient, the adhesion of the liner may weaken over time and the liner may fall off the vehicle in extreme cases. If the trim panel falls off the vehicle while driving, it increases the risk of collision or injury to the rear vehicle on the road, especially the motorcycle, and represents a safety hazard.

Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will inspect vehicles free of charge as part of the recall and perform a traction test on the roof liner. If the test passes, the primer is sufficient and no further steps are required; if the test fails, it will be tested again. Install the roof panel to eliminate safety risks.

Emergency measures: Before the vehicle is recalled for repair, the owner must drive the vehicle carefully and contact the service center for inspection and repair as soon as possible after the pickup begins.

Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will notify affected users in the form of registered mail or email. The Tesla Service Center will also take the initiative to contact affected car owners to arrange a pickup for maintenance. Users can call Tesla’s customer service hotline: 400-910-0707 via cell phones and landlines for consultation. Additionally, you can also go to the websites dpac.samr.gov.cn, www.recall.org.cn and follow WeChat’s official account (SAMRDPAC) for more information and clues about the defects.
