Remember Atari? Now he is entering blockchain games

A classic video game name is making the jump to the blockchain …

The Atari brand went through a period in which it was traded and sold to companies, which in turn tried to resurrect it and play the nostalgia of video games. After all, Atari was probably the first big name in video games and certainly the biggest original failure.

Since 2003, however, he has lived under the same house, with the company Infogrames who buys it and eventually changes its name.

It would be fair to say that Atari is not the force in the game it once was, but the name still retains a bit of nostalgia. Perhaps, therefore, it was inevitable that companies would try to penetrate the developing world of blockchain gaming, that the name of Atari would come out.

In collaboration with Animoca Brands (and, a less well-known videogame brand), blockchain versions of Atari hits will be developed. Atari is taking a share in the Animoca business in exchange for blockchain rights to its games, with RollerCoaster Tycoon top at the top of the list to make the jump. Also in the mix is the game Goon team, mashed potato.

So far, no calendar has been announced for new versions of the games, nor the details on which blockchain should lead to both titles. However, with Atari acquired in the business, these two games are probably just the beginning of what both parties presumably hope will be a long-term relationship.

More on Atari titles as we hear it …
