Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom was first discovered in public wearing a protective mask last week during a short ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

Although the 94-year-old monarch has been in public for the past few months, since the start of the pandemic and until now, he has never appeared in a toilet mask, Euronews notes.

Official photos of the recent ceremony were published on Saturday evening.

“It was wonderful to see His Majesty so happy and in great physical shape,” said David Hoyle, Archpriest of Westminster Abbey.

The ceremony was small with few participants and was the occasion of the centenary of the funeral of the Great Unknown Soldier.

The tomb belongs to an unidentified British soldier who died in service during the First World War. His body was repatriated from the north of France and buried in Westminster Abbey on 11 November 1920. Centennial ceremonies were limited due to the coronavirus pandemic.
