MADRID, Dec 2 (Portaltic / EP) –

This Wednesday, December 2nd 15 years since the Xbox 360 console was launched in Spain, in 2005, which it would eventually become Microsoft’s best-selling console and the only one that has achieved similar success to its competitor, PlayStation.

After the first launch in the US and Canada on November 22, a few days later, on December 2, Xbox 360 was also released in Europe, including Spain.

Xbox 360 is the generation that managed to debut Microsoft on desktop consoles, the original Xbox, 2001. In this first generation, Microsoft has managed to sell 24 million Xbox worldwide, but it was far below its rival Sony, PS2, which with over 155 million units is still the best-selling desktop console in history.

In the next generation of consoles, Microsoft reached with Xbox 360 its best-selling console, the sixth most commercially successful in history, with 84 million units, according to US company data.

With these figures, the Xbox 360 was able to do it reduce to the shortest distance ever achieved between simultaneous generations of Xbox and PlayStation: only 3.4 million units, compared to 87.4 million PS3 -although this was put up for sale a year later, in 2006-.

On its journey, the Xbox 360 has caught up 78 billion hours of gameplay around the world, 486,000 million scores in their video games, 27 billion outdated achievements and more than 25,000 million hours spent on other console applications.

XBOX 360: VERSIONS AND ONLINE GAME

Xbox 360 was released at three different versions throughout its history: the first, Xbox 360 standard, with curved shapes; the second, Xbox 360 S., launched in 2010; and the third, Xbox 360 E, with a straight lines design.

All models had versions with low internal memory, oriented to playing with disc, and others with internal hard drives for digital games. The console also featured matte black and white designs.

Technically, at the level of “software” Xbox 360 was the console responsible for disclosing established elements in current video games such as online games, via the Xbox Live platform and achievements in video games.

Its game catalog was very extensive and, aside from Microsoft’s exclusive video games, led by sagas like Halo and Gears of Wars, was a console that practically every game of its generation landed on, with popular titles like Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock, the Assassin’s Creed saga, Mass Effect, GTA and Call of Duty, etc.

However, the main achievement of the Xbox 360 that remains to this day has been its popularity, both among the sales audience and critics, which propelled it to be the biggest rival of the PlayStation created by Microsoft to date.
