MSI suggests an island solution for 1440p gaming

Sony currently supports Play station 5 no video output in 1440p. This is annoying for owners of QHD resolution monitors. Because as a result, your monitors only receive a 1080p signal, which was first scaled to the same resolution on the PS5 and then scaled back to 1440p by the monitor. Sony has vaguely conceded the ability to provide an upgrade, but early manufacturers like MSI are now offering isolated solutions.

MSI explains that the so-called “console mode” on the company’s latest monitors basically solves the problem. However, even MSI’s solution doesn’t seem ideal. According to the manufacturer, some models, such as the Prestige PS321QR, may accept a 4K signal from the PS5 in console mode. Then the monitor would resize the image down to 1440p itself.

However, z. For example, MSI’s curved monitors, which offer console mode, are not ideal as companions for the PS5. For example, they have a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels, which is the 21: 9 aspect ratio. The PS5 only sends a 16: 9 signal, so the black bars remain in the left and right image.

The following MSI models use console mode:

  • MPG ARTYMIS 343CQR (curved)
  • Prestige PS321QR
  • Optix MPG341CQR (curved)
  • Optix MAG274QRF-QD
  • Optix MPG341CQRV (curved)
  • Optix MAG274QRF
  • Optix MAG342CQR (curved)
  • Optix AG321CQR (curved)
