Microsoft Summit 2016. Digital transformation: the new reality of the corporate environment

Microsoft Romania organizes the fourth edition of Microsoft Summit, the most important annual business and technology event.

The event will take place in the building of the National Theater in Bucharest on November 8, 2016. The first speaker that Microsoft Romania announces as a guest at Microsoft Summit 2016 is David Rowan, editor since the founding of the British edition of WIRED Magazine, probably the most important global technology publication. Rowan sat face-to-face with representatives from major digital industry companies, such as Eric Schmidt, Michael Dell or Reid Hoffmann, as well as with entrepreneurs and innovative start-up developers from Tel Aviv to Shenzen, in an effort to investigate how the technological innovation will transform the world.

Founded in 1993, WIRED quickly became the “official magazine” of California’s growing tech culture (which would become the famous “Silicon Valley” in a few years.) By combining tech speculation with journalism, the magazine managed to stay, plus two decades in which he collected numerous journalistic awards, the best known title in the field of journalism dedicated to the digital age (with an ironically high circulation in print – 850 thousand copies in the United States alone). There is almost a step-by-step history of modern technology in the pages and on the WIRED site, and many of the WIRED titles have influenced the history of the technology itself – from the explosion of OpenSource culture to the establishment of the “age of privacy” ( the controversial untitled cover featuring the portrait of Edward Snowden, announcing in the magazine the longest interview he has ever given his asylum in Russia).

“Technology, the Internet and new business models challenge the existing order in real time, so before we know it, the old rules no longer matter. But if you understand the new rules, great new opportunities arise.

David Rowan: You risk being left behind if you are not ready to innovate

Suddenly, every type of business, from hardware to services, realizes it has to become a digital company to survive. Which means changing the corporate mindset and preparing for the constant search for new ways to create value. That way, if you’re not ready to innovate, you risk falling behind, “said David Rowan.

Microsoft Summit 2016 is based on two sections of content. The first is a series of plenary sessions, where speakers will highlight the most important trends in the digital age as well as the main areas of impact of technology on the business environment. The second section includes sessions that discuss specific areas or topics (solutions for industries, data management and analysis, mobility, productivity, etc.).

“For us, Microsoft Summit is an opportunity to discuss the latest developments in technology and how it, in an unprecedented trend, goes far beyond IT, transforming virtually all areas of business. We are proud that every year we are able to provide a network structure in which technology and the people around it – both those who create it and those who use it – can meet to exchange information and keep up to date with the evolutions of the digital age on a global level “he stated Gabriela Matei, General Manager of Microsoft Romania.

Significant changes and opportunities for the way a business operates

The theme of the 2016 edition – “Digital Transformation” – addresses the changes brought to the corporate environment by the digital present. The speed with which data is transferred and organized today, the value of their intelligent and extremely fast processing, translates into significant changes and opportunities for the way a company operates, regardless of its size, from the processes that are at the heart of the company to interact with the market and customers.

Digital transformation does not only mean technological progress, but above all the adoption of a new vision of the business model. A vision that brings together people, data and technology to add value to products, companies and communication with customers, but which also presents new challenges of agility, security and transparency.

Registration for the event can be done on the Microsoft Summit 2016 website in the Registration section. Until 29 September, the “Early bird” price is 510 lei (excluding VAT). Between 30 September and 26 October, the “Early bird” option is 600 lei (excluding VAT) and after 27 October the full rate of 745 lei (excluding VAT) applies.
