MasterCard Blockchain Adoption A sign of things that will come?

A patent has been filed by the massive payment providers, Mastercard. The patent covers a method and an anonymization system for electronic transactions based on blockchain.

The patent application was originally filed in the summer of last year, but at the beginning of this week the US Patent and Trade Office published it.

The patent application refers to electronic transactions that become anonymous through the blockchain. In particular, the use of one or more intermediate addresses to obscure the source and destination of funds in a blockchain to increase the anonymity of the bodies involved with blockchain addresses.

It is normal that it is difficult for the user behind the address of a blockchain to be identified, which means that anyone can transfer or receive transactions using a blockchain while maintaining a high level of secrecy.

However, the nature of the Blockchain as an immutable ledger is such that every transaction can be traced back to the blockchain genesis block. You can view all the transfers involved with a specific blockchain wallet by observing the movement of the digital currency in a blockchain through its transactions.

As reported by RTTWith all existing communications and the allocation structure of the available blockchain technology, this is possible. For example, Bitcoin requires identification of where transfers come and go to keep the ledger.

"The methods and systems have deposited the intermediate addresses of use of the patent to obscure the source and destination of funds for transactions conducted through the blockchain." For this reason, it appears that the user only transfers funds and receives funds from a small number of addresses that are also involved in a significant amount of transfers with different users and therefore the data obtained are useless.

However, the amounts could be obscured through the use of multiple transactions that includes different addresses. This could increase the confidentiality even more provided by the systems and methods for which the patent is filed.

Take all this out of the equation and focus on MasterCard. This is a great company used by millions of people around the world and with them, starting to use the blockchain and changing it in their own way, this is a sign of the traditional adoption of blockchain technology. You could say that MasterCard is trying to anticipate the game before someone else "steals the idea".
