The President-elect of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu stated that in the first weeks of the inauguration (which could take place at the end of December – n.red) the visit to Chisinau of the Romanian president Klaus Iohannis will be organized. “As part of cooperation projects with the EU and Romania, I will discuss the provision of an anti-Covid vaccine to the Republic of Moldova as soon as possible,” he added.

Iohannis’ visit to Chisinau was announced by the presidential administration in Bucharest, immediately after the presentation of the official results of the presidential elections in Moldova, won by Maia Sandu in front of the pro-Russian president Igor Dodon. Iohannis was the first head of state to congratulate Maia Sandu on winning the election.

“The situation is bad and bad in almost all areas,” Maia Sandu said at a press conference where she talked about her priorities after the inauguration.

Among these, the “positive” foreign policy, the removal of the country from the international isolation in which it was placed by the irresponsibility of the previous power, obtaining aid to overcome the health and economic crisis, but also the fight against corruption.

“We have started to rebuild relations with Romania and Ukraine. (…) I want to transform Moldova into a European state, to have good pragmatic relations based on mutual respect both in the West and in the East. (..,) In the first few weeks after the inauguration, we will organize the visit of President Klaus Iohannis to Chisinau and a meeting with President Zelenski. In the next period I will focus on getting help to overcome the health and economic crisis. ‘EU and Romania, I will discuss the supply to the Republic of Moldova of the anti-Covid vaccine as soon as possible, “he said.
