On 27 December, the Italian government published a list of 30 experts who should develop the country's blockchain strategy. The Ministry of Economic Development has published the list.

It boasts experts from various backgrounds including academic research, law, IT and business. The only thing that everyone has in common is the knowledge and experience of nascent technology.

Important names occupy the list

There are a number of distinguished people on the list including Pimpinella Martino Maurizio who is the president of the Italian Association of payment service providers, Monaco Marco who is the leader of the blockchain competence center at the PWC in Italy, Vitale Marco which is the president of Quadrans Foundation, a blockchain company and Angiolini Giorgio, which is part of the blockchain group of UN INFO and is responsible for the marketing of Italtel.

The plans to form the panel were revealed for the first time in September of this year. The ministry at the time announced that its key priority was to understand and address the problem of blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT). Furthermore, he wanted to increase private and public investments in the area.

According to a statement released in September, the 30-man panel will work to identify the potential uses of blockchain in the public and private sectors. They will also work on developing the technical and regulatory tools necessary to promote the adoption of technology.

The Italian Deputy Prime Minister, at the time, had said:

"Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain are destined to radically change our lives, the society in which we live and the economic and productive fabric of the country." We have to decide which way to go. "

The naming of the panel is a step in the right direction for Italy. At the beginning of the month, the country signed a declaration along with six other European nations in order to take over the leadership of the DLT to transform its economy.
