Italy is moving towards total quarantine. The decision of November 15 – Coronavirus

Italy is moving towards total quarantine. The decision will be made on November 15, if the number of contaminations is not reduced by then. New restrictions will come into effect in some areas on Wednesday.

The hypothesis of the total quarantine is on the table of the authorities, writes the Corriere della Sera on Tuesday, quoted by Mediafax. Not only because Italian doctors have been asking for quarantine for a few days, but also because concern has increased in the government, given the epidemiological curve. The government therefore thinks of the need for even stricter measures, such as the closure of restaurants on Saturdays and Sundays at noon and the suspension of commercial activities, which now have exemptions in the red zones.

While some ministers such as Roberto Speranza (Health) and Dario Franceschini (Culture) push for further tightening, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte says that the “scientific mechanism” according to which the country was divided into red, orange and yellow zones should not be underestimated. : “We have to wait for the effects of the measures. We used a scientific method and we cannot question this wave of emotions.”

The government’s goal is to reach at least November 15, when it will be possible to determine the effectiveness of the constraints that have divided Italy into “colored” areas based on contamination.

If the epidemiological curve does not reduce in five days, the most likely hypothesis is to place all regions in the “red zone”. In this case, the list of shops that can remain open during the day will be reviewed.

The government receives daily reports showing the progress of the epidemic based on the relationship between the tests performed and those that are positive, but also takes into account the situation of hospitals and especially of intensive care. This is the issue that most worries experts: even if the number of contaminations were reduced to 15, the hospitals would still be crowded and new Covid hospitals would be needed in record time.

The latest decree has been in effect for almost a week and masks have been mandatory for more than a month.

Meanwhile, from Wednesday Liguria, Tuscany, Abruzzo, Basilicata and Umbria are moving into the “orange zone” (together with Puglia and Sicily, which have been present in this area for several days), which means no night traffic. and not to leave the regions except for work, health or emergencies, etc. As for the Campania region, the decision will be taken on Tuesday.
