The two official Ducati riders, Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci, expect an increase in performance compared to the European GP in view of the best weather forecasts for the second showdown in Valencia.
The rain and changing track conditions made it difficult for the MotoGP aces to work on the first weekend of the GP at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. They only had the warm up to prepare for the race on a dry track that the official Ducati riders had to face from grid positions 12 (Andrea Dovizioso) and 18 (Danilo Petrucci).
After 27 laps of the race, the two Italians crossed the finish line in the top 10. Dovizioso managed to climb up to eighth position, his teammate crossed the line in tenth position. Since the weather forecasts for the second weekend at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit are much better, the team mates are looking forward to the challenge that awaits us with confidence.
Dovizioso explains: “The result of the first GP in Valencia certainly did not meet our expectations, but we still understood some important aspects. I had a good pace in the second half of the race and I was able to gather some interesting information. If the weather remains stable, we can face the race with more optimism “.
The sixth in the World Championship, which two races before the end of the season was separated by 45 points from Leader Joan Mir, knows: “We should be able to ride faster with the new tires. And even if winning the title is now almost impossible, we will continue to fight until the end. It would be nice to finish the World Championship in at least one of the other two top 3 positions “.
Petrucci agrees with his team-mate: “If the weather turns out to be better this weekend, I think there could be all the conditions to significantly improve our performance on this track. Unfortunately, so far this year we haven’t done well in the second race on the same track as in the first. “
“But if we have more training time, I’m sure we can show a better race than last week,” underlines the current eleventh World Cup. “The first goal will be to improve our starting position to be able to fight for better results in the race”, adds the 30-year-old from Terni.
