A Brazilian supermarket chain called Oásis Supermercados has begun accepting cryptocurrency payments. It will allow buyers to pay in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin according to one of the managers named Douglas Andrade.

The supermarket is based in the capital of Rio de Janeiro and is successful in terms of profits, with $ 6.5 million in annual turnover and 90 employees. The 20 cashiers have already taken a training course to accept cryptocurrency payments.

Andrade has specified the ease of cryptographic payments, comparing it with a credit card but scanning a QR code.

The Brazilian supermarket has joined CoinWISE to help them convert cryptocurrencies into reais that are sent every three days after payments.

Brazil is now keeping an eye on cryptocurrency operations in the country, due to tax evasion and money laundering. However, this has not yet prevented the supermarket from bringing cryptocurrency into traditional spending payments.

Take of Blockmanity

It is believed that Brazil is adopting cryptocurrencies in traditional commercial activities. One of these examples is the two Brazilian public transport companies of the GBS Brasil Sul and Viação Garcia Group accepting Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin.

Also the metropolitan system of Rio de Janeiro, the Metrô Brasília, accepts Bitcoin (BTC). Technisa, a construction company in Brazil, has encouraged the use of BTC by offering a 5% discount if payments are made in BTC.

Not only cryptocurrencies, but also the blockchain that is proving an impact for supermarkets. IBM signed the European supermarket giant Carrefour in IBM Food Trust to help trace the supply chain.

So do not be surprised, the next time your supermarket cashier asks you if you want to pay cash, credit card or Cryptos!
