Lady Colin Campbell believes that Ruthie Henshall’s public recollection of sex with Prince Edward successfully reduces the Crown’s portrayal of royalty as suffocating.
Speaking on Saturday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity … The Daily Drop, the Jamaican-born British writer, 71, insisted that Ruthie’s revelations on Friday’s I’m A Celebrity … Take Me Out from here! proved that the ruling family was less difficult than represented.
He said: ‘This shows that the characterization that the royal family is portrayed, in a series we will not mention by name, is completely inaccurate.

During Friday’s broadcast of I’m A Celebrity, West End star Ruthie, 53, raised her eyebrows as she talked about her Buckingham Palace sex sessions with the former Prince Edward, 56.
Ruthie attended the Royal for five years in the 1990s and reflected on their romance during a chat with fellow camper Shane Richie.
During the conversation, singer Ruthie also revealed that she gave an intimate musical performance to the royal family, after they got “screwed on martinis” during a trip to Balmoral.

Speaking with Shane, Ruthie has boldly said: ‘You performed at Buckingham Palace, you sang in the gardens, I sucked in the bedrooms.
Clearly piquing Shane’s interest, the two then settled into his hammock and Ruthie divulged some of her best tales from dating Prince Edward.
Ruthie later revealed that she had been to Windsor and Balmoral, the Queen’s estate in Scotland, with her ex – and even ended up performing for the family.
He said: “ He invited me to Windsor for the weekend as we walk I see a table outside and there are people sitting around and I think it looks like the queen and I remembered my father told me if you ever meet the queen, you she said you bow and call her lady.

‘I grab her hand like this [handshake], forget all about reverence and I’m really very glad to meet you, really glad to meet you. ‘
Enjoying the revelations, Shane then asked, “Did you know Diana a lot?”
Ruthie replied: “I met her a couple of times and one of my favorite moments was that we were in Balmoral, there was Diana, the queen, Margaret, the queen mother, Charles, Edward, myself.”
He added that Diana was’lovely, “but doesn’t” remember much why Charles gave me my first martini. “
What a story: the performer spoke candidly about her time with the royal family, with campmate Shane Richie covering his face at one point
‘I had never tried it before, so I was enough … I had two and I was like woah …’ Ruthie said prompting Shane to tease him: ‘Don’t tell me you’re going to play the songs.’
‘Let me tell you. Margaret she says “yeah, yeah, oh sing us a song from that show you’re on” and I was in Les Mis at the time. So I sang I Dreamed A Dream and I must have changed the key three times because I was so pissed off with martinis. ‘
Ruthie also reflected on how she met Edward during the insightful conversation.
He said: ‘It’s funny, it’s been so long .. [he’s a] Adorable boy. And I sincerely fell in love with him.
Intrigued: Impressed Shane asked if Ruthie had met Diana, Princess of Wales, before the singer revealed that she didn’t remember her very well as Prince Charles had given her a martini
Shane then asked: ‘There was a title years ago, wasn’t there? The prince and the showgirl. Where did you meet him?’
‘He was a production assistant at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s. And then he called me himself [Andrew] and he wanted me to play the lead role in A Star Is Born. And Edward was my point of contact.
‘He was the one calling me and telling me to repeat at 2 or whatever. And he said you’d like to come over and watch the A Star Is Born movie with me and have dinner. I was like what, in the palace, is that where you live?
Shane said, ‘Is that what he meant? God is so strange. Watching a star was born with Prince Edward. ‘He later joked: “His first date was at Buckingham Palace. Can you believe it? Damn, my first date was Little Chef.
SO candid: Speaking to Shane Richie, Ruthie said boldly: “You performed at Buckingham Palace, you sang in the gardens, I shit in the bedrooms.”
Shane continued. ‘So when did you think we’re gonna jiggy boom boom? We’ll be boom boom boom soon. I will be the new queen of England.
“No,” protested Ruthie.
Ruthie’s stories came after camp mates Shane and Russell Watson shared their real stories.
Actor Shane, who performed in the musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie last year, shared that he starred at Buckingham Palace during the lockdown.
‘It’s amazing, everyone asks if you stole anything and I took some toilet paper but it was just plain toilet paper. I expected it to have a royal seal or something like that, “he joked.

Russell Watson added: “I stole a hanger from Windsor Castle”. “A coat stand. I mean come on. You would cut at least one crown.

Ruthie has dated Prince Edward for five years and remains good friends with him, even attending his wedding to Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.
