The new “Ahlan Simsim” program is born in the Arab world, with its dolls, which young people have always loved, and new ones, as part of its efforts to help children, especially refugees, to deal with their feelings.

Three new Arab dolls will enter the program: “Jad”, the yellow monster, who has recently arrived in the neighborhood, leaving the house, and his girlfriend “Basma”, purple, in addition to the goat “Mazzouza”.

These dolls will join well-known characters such as “Gargour”, “Elmo” and “Kaaki”, the cake monster, in various adventures.

“Jad” has arrived in the neighborhood recently and embarks on adventures with his new girlfriend “Basma” and others.

“We play, sing, always try new things and live adventures,” Basma told AFP during a promotional tour in Dubai.

“We have a lot of friends in the neighborhood. But Jad is my best friend,” confirms the purple doll.

The program is part of a larger joint humanitarian project between “Sesame Workshop” and International Rescue Committee “to provide early education and assistance to children and caregivers of people affected by the conflict in Syria,” according to a statement released by the organizers.

The program will be broadcast on the Arab satellite channel MBC 3, starting February 2, and via YouTube and others.

Since mid-March 2011, Syria has witnessed a bloody conflict, which has resulted in the deaths of over 370,000 people and the displacement and displacement of more than half of the population inside and outside the country.

The conflict has resulted in the displacement of 5.1 million Syrian children, of whom 2.5 million have sought refuge in other countries such as Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan.

Basma says: “Jad and I are not very similar. He is an artist and a painter, and I love to sing and dance. He likes to organize things, think and plan and I’m bored.”

For his part, Gargour, who has visited several Arab countries, meets with children to ask them about issues such as jealousy and caring for loved ones.

Gargour, who is blue, is one of the characters loved by children all over the world because of his comic character.

“We are all different from each other,” said Gargour. “There are those who love to sing, there are those who love to dance and some who like to exercise, and there are those who like me to become the best presenter in the world.”

“I found that we are alike because we love each other,” she said.

The duration of the episode will be 26 minutes divided into two parts, one of which is a variety show that hosts celebrities from the Arab world and children of all Arab nationalities.

Officials on the show, produced in Jordan, confirm that the episodes that will screen six days a week will focus on feelings and how to deal with them.

The program is the result of two years of working with child specialists in the Arab world.

The show’s executive producer, Khaled Haddad, told France Press that “Ahlan Simsim’s content, in its first part, deals with the issue of feelings,” noting that the show will be fun and educational at the same time.

According to Haddad, “Unfortunately, our children cannot express their feelings. They do not know exactly what the feeling is. The child does not know that he is scared, angry or even jealous. In our environments, we present these feelings and a strategy for dealing with them.” .

In one of the episodes, Basma learns with Jad from the character “Hadi”, who is like their big brother on the show, how to deal with fear.

Basma describes how to overcome fear and says, “Put your hand on your stomach, then take a breath through your nose, inhale and exhale. This helps to calm down.”

“Jad” was unable to participate in the promotional tour in Dubai.

Gad recently arrived in the neighborhood after leaving his home. But Haddad insists not to call him a “refugee”.

Haddad says, “We have not granted Jad refugee status. He is a new baby who has come to the neighborhood and all the children know him and become friends.”

Haddad insists that the program will be dedicated to all children in the Arab world.

Since its inception in November 1969 on American public television, the popular program has taken on various titles in more than 150 countries.

Sesame Street in the Arab world was titled “Open Sesame” and was very popular.

His show began with Gulf production in 1979 and continued until 1990, and was widely popular in the Arab world.

Filming for the second season of “Ahlan Simsim” will begin next March.

“We hope that after watching this show children will become smarter, kinder and stronger by expressing their feelings,” Haddad says.
