This cat is a world star! In the semifinals of “The Masked Singer” (ProSieben) the cat was excluded from the fans and turned out to be Vicky Leandros. With the commitment of the 68-year-old Schlager legend, ProSieben has achieved a real coup. But not everyone was happy to see Vicky slip out from under the mask.
Rea Garvey is back! The Irishman joins Sonja Zietlow and Bülent Ceylan as a guest on the council. Rea was a guest once in the first season and a permanent member of the team alongside Ruth Moschner in the second. His credo: “I speak from my instincts. I’m too honest.” They are almost prophetic words. The hangover follows on foot!
The alien plays the opening show. Pat Boone’s “When, When, When” (1962) flatters the hearts of the jury. Sonja and Bülent dance exuberantly, but fit into the crown: Bülent takes a few turns with his desk chair. Rea: “I have an idea, but it scares me.” What did the Irish notice?
The alien is doing well. 72.1 percent of ProSieben app users suspect Luke Mockridge is hiding under the guise of “horn pipes”. Zietlow suggests Hape Kerkeling, Ceylan brings Alec Völkel from The BossHoss. Rea joins: “Alcohol and women on stage – it feels like Alec too.”
The opponent of the alien is the hippo. “Nili” sings the Aerosmith ballad “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing”. Garvey suspects: “You’re not a professional singer.” Is it Nelson Müller, the television chef? Or is it Ross Anthony? Ceylan Jay Khan’s hypothesis sounds as if he had swapped the fact sheet prepared by the editors. Khan would be more for the Anubis.
The cat is very sexy with “Sexbomb” (Tom Jones) and sings the second verse in French. A real surprise. Zietlow and Ceylan (“I trust my mother!”) They suspect Vicky Leandros, but Garvey is totally against: “Never in your life! Vicky the cat would sing on the wall”. The cat’s opponent is called Anubis.
The always aggressive Anubis brings instead a strangled version of “Rooftop” (Nico Santos). ProSieben fans suspect Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, Ceylan is inclined to agree. Zietlow throws Henning Baum and again Jan Josef Liefers into the ring. Garvey decides: “No!” He suspects that Oli P.
Zietlow and Garvey fight over the Anubis. He tastes the jackal as “Nubsi”, he says, “Whoever calls Anubis ‘Nubsi’ has no respect.” The two were already involved in genuine stress last season, when Garvey always wanted to get rid of the rabbit (Sonja). Anubis doesn’t care: he goes straight to the final against the cat.
43.9% of the app users see Anubis Klaas Heufer circulating. How is it possible for Klaas to go live with “Late Night Berlin” right after “TMS” – and even conduct a live interview with Anubis. Fans sniff a huge fake on Instagram: “This is a farce. This is not in Berlin, this is a studio in Cologne!”
Meerkats go clubbing with “Breaking Me” (Topic & A7S). Could it be – as almost 80% of app users, Daniela Katzenberger and Lucas Cordalis think? Or is it more like Collien Fernandes and Christian Ulmen? He does not take Bülent’s “Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz” proposal seriously. “It should be a joke.”
The meerkat’s opponent is the skeleton. For the fifth time, the skeleton is the latest candidate. Should Sarah Lombardi first bring her little Alessio to bed? Because 70% of app users suspect the former super talent judge is under the guise. The skeleton sings “Chandelier” (Sia) and brings tears to Ceylan’s eyes.
While Ceylan cries (“This is my eldest daughter’s favorite song – I’m fat!”) Sonja has goosebumps. Rea, on the other hand, cradles and raves about a woman “who lives by singing”. Sonja realizes that some clues also apply to Marie Wegener. We won’t find out until next week: the skeleton will make it to the finals.
The hippo gets excited in the jump-off with “Ain’t No Sunshine” (Bill Withers), but the live indication (beach villa) only causes Sonja Zietlow “the utmost confusion”. Rea is also “stunned”. “That was the next level, it was a great performance.” Even fans of the app see it this way: the hippo is the first “lucky loser” to be voted for the final.
The cat bravely mows “Strong Enough” (Cher) in an acoustic version. Vicky Leandros can be heard quite clearly. Rea Garvey still has doubts: “You are a popular old lady who likes to sing”. When he realizes how he is talking about Vicky Leandros, he gets a “guilty conscience”. “I hope it isn’t. Vote it for the final!”
But meerkats or their fans turn the kitten’s ultimate dream into shame. Her “Senorita” (Camila Cabello & Shawn Mendes) is also vocally shaky. “But the performance was fantastic,” praised Sonja. Only next week will we see if the plush couple could be Giovanni and Jana Ina Zarrella, after all.
Sonja Zietlow wished it: “Vicky Leandros would be such a sensation!” And your wish (and Mama Ceylan’s suggestion!) Will come true! “What a legend,” says Opdenhövel, Ceylan cheers for supporters. The fact that Vicky Leandros took part in “The Masked Singer” honors and adorns ProSieben. After all, the hit legend didn’t just sing “Theo, we’re going to Lodz”. He is a world star, he won the Grand Prix de la Chanson in 1972 and has sold 55 million records. He is happy: “It was a great adventure in a fantastic show”.
Bülent Ceylan, who for the fourth time in a row has guessed celebrity under the mask, knows what a good son should be. “Ms. Leandros”, he calls very politely, “I absolutely need an autograph for my mother.” Maybe Rea should have one for his father too … The finale of “The Masked Singer” will take place on Tuesday 24 November 2020 at 8:15 pm.
