Global transport units DT and Orange enhance IPX with blockchain

The two claim to have successfully carried out a proof of concept to increase the end-to-end quality of services involving roaming.

Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier and Orange International Carrier have announced the successful conclusion of a proof of concept (PoC) project to improve IPX services using blockchain technology.

Their decision to collaborate on the initiative was first announced in June. IPX is a critical roaming enabler, and providing end-to-end service level agreements (SLAs) across multiple IPX networks is a prerequisite for ensuring mobile operators have the best quality network performance.

By sharing KPI data, you will be able to ensure end-to-end quality of service, while improving forecasting and incident management.

Greater joint range

Orange and Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier are expanding the collective reach of mobile service providers connected directly through their IPX networks, as well as through IPX PoP peering and expansion agreements.

They are also developing new IPX products. DT has launched Premium IPX which, the company says, will provide much needed end-to-end SLA and QoS, as well as improve KPIs.

Orange says that with the advancement of 5G, edge and other technologies, optimization of today’s IPX system is essential for the telecom industry as a whole.

Blockchain would also guarantee transparency because every transaction is directly visible and privacy problems would be eliminated thanks to the encryption of the data stored and exchanged.

As a next step, the results of the PoC will be presented to GSMA.
