The global retail giant Auchan is expanding the blockchain solution of TE-FOOD to improve the transparency of product history, the US press agency Cision PRWeb reports today, December 4th.

The French retail group, which is reportedly the 13th largest global food retailer with operations in 17 countries, has extended the TE-FOOD FoodChain solution to five other countries.

FoodChain is the register of information on the international traceability of TE-FOOD, applied for the first time by Auchan in its branch in Vietnam. After an 18-month test of the TE-FOOD blockchain tool in Vietnam, Auchan has now decided to implement the product traceability solution in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Senegal.

The blockchain-based retail tracking system provides traceability for the product categories selected from the farm to the table, as well as recording food quality data and related logistical information. Consumers Auchan are able to control the history of products through their smartphones by scanning the QR codes of products and accessing authentic data recorded on FoodChain.

According to the article, the blockchain solution of TE-FOOD implemented by Auchan is probably the largest food traceability program in Vietnam in the world, with over 6,000 customers including major food industry giants such as AEON, CP Group, Lotte Mart and others.

In mid-November, another French retail giant, Carrefour, revealed that it was implementing a blockchain-enabled food tracking platform powered by Hyperledger for tracing poultry in Spain.

At the beginning of September, the British giant Walmart and its Sam & # 39; s Club division, a retail club reserved for subscribers, also announced that they will require suppliers of green leafy vegetables to implement a system of blockchain-based farm-to-store tracking.

At the end of November, a fintech expert predicted that the market value of blockchain in global retail will see a 29-fold increase over the next 10 years.
