The measure appears in the Official Journal of the EU following a proposal by the European Commission voted in December.

Anti-dumping and anti-subsidy taxes are the latest measures taken by Europeans against Chinese imports, from solar panels to steel, which have provoked strong reactions in Beijing.

The Commission found that Chinese bicycle exports to the EU have increased more than three times from 2014 to September 2017. Their market share has increased to 35%, while average prices have fallen by more than 3%. ; 11%.

The Commission also found that Chinese producers benefit from controlled aluminum prices, profitable financing or tax reductions.

The giant bicycle manufacturer in Taiwan, one of the largest in the world, with factories in China and the Netherlands, will have a cost of 24.8%.

European producers include Accell and Gazelle in the Netherlands, Eurosport DHS in Romania and Derby Cycle Holding in Germany.

The European Bicycle Manufacturers Association has announced that it appreciates the measure, which protects 800 small and medium-sized enterprises with 90,000 employees.

The association warned that Chinese producers are trying to enter Europe through third countries where their products are repackaged.

LEVA-EU, a group that includes importers who illustrate taxes, said they are absurd and will interest both consumers and other European companies.
