Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, the third largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, spoke of the decentralization of Ethereum, in an interview with Blockchain Insider.

Buterin started talking about Centralized Ethereum around him and how to get decentralized. According to him, there has already been enormous progress in terms of decentralization. For this reason, he cited the example of concrete governance actions that have taken place over the last 12 months. He said:

"The number one, like many of the constant fork constantinople characteristics that are launched in January, practically happened without me.Number two, reduction of the emission from 3 ether to 2 ether that is going to Constantinople, I was not at all involved. "

Recently, the main developer of Ethereum, Peter Szilagi announced that Constantinople's fixed fork will be held on the block # 7080000 around January 16, 2019. The hard fork supports five Ethereum improvement protocols [EIP]s, including the implementation of the reduction of the block mining premium and the delay of the 12-month trouble bomb. The decision to reduce the block premium was taken by the teams in order to reduce the rate of inflation, effectively reducing the premium by 33%.

Buterin went on to say that "Ethereum 1.x, short-term scalability improvements that are going to the main chain before we can move to sharding, the whole effort started without my involvement." Ethereum 1.x is an update of the network, which could go live in June 2019. The update proposes a replacement of the Ethereum virtual machine and the introduction of the smart contract.

He also added that the effective implementation of Casper and Sharding is carried out by five different teams while being involved in drafting the specifications. He said:

"I mean, I would not have been able to say it for sure 18 months ago, but I really feel like the community was able to act autonomously at this point […] I mean that it is absolutely not saying that I am looking and disappearing so that it is the thing that generally trolls tend to interpret by saying what I say things like this, but I am not at all disappearing "
