Ethereum [ETH’s Vitalik Buterin: The Proof-of-Stake [PoS] we are planning to launch is much more powerful

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, recently spoke about the presence of other projects inside or outside the blockchain ecosystem that used Proof of Stake [PoS]. It also has the main difference in the Ethereum Game Trial [PoS].

Buterin started talking about other Proof of Stake projects, citing the example of Tezos as a simpler version of PoS. He also added that PoS "is quite popular", however, the PoS that is present in space is "quite simplistic". The co-founder stated that the Foundation is planning to launch a "much more powerful" Proof of Stake in many ways comparing it with others.

He also clarified how the trial version of Ethereum is going to differ from "simplistic" versions. He said the simplistic version "substantially replicates" the structure of the PoW, where the randomness of the mathematical puzzles that people solve with computers is replaced with randomness that is virtually simulated inside the blockchain.

"So you still have a structure where you can get a block and a block over a block and over a block, and that kind of structure is nice because it's very simple and very little thinking, but it's also terrible because it takes a long time come to the consent "

For this, Buterin cited the example of Bitcoin, in which there must be six confirmations that would require approximately one hour to confirm a transaction, adding that the Proof of Stake chains "do not work in a similar way, in practice they inherit those weaknesses ".

He went on to say:

"Our stake demonstration approach combines some insights from these old mail chain-based goals with false Byzantine theory […] our idea is to take those algorithms. First of all we combine them together with the test of the episode and secondly, we found an algorithm that has some intermediate properties between the properties of the previous BFD algorithms and the PoS based on the chain. "

"So, in our case, we have a version of this algorithm that takes more time to reach a final consensus, but not too long […] and the benefit this gives you is that within something like five seconds you get some sort of soft chords that this block is probably part of the story forever. And then, in a couple of minutes, that the soft chords are in a final ending, it's not going back "
